4 Keto Fat Bombs to Get & Stay in Ketosis

Being in a state of ketosis is the ultimate goal if you are living the Ketogenic lifestyle. So, what is this magical state of ketosis and how do you know if you are there? No worries, there are several signs that will give you a head’s up and let you know that you have reached the promise land!!

  1. WEIGHT LOSS– One of the most obvious and rewarding signs of ketosis is weight loss.

  2. LOSS OF APPETITE– You don’t get as hungry. Your body lets you know when it needs fuel and you will only eat what is necessary.

  3. INCREASED FOCUS– When your body produces Ketones

    your brain has an abundant supply of fuel helping you stay focused.

  4. BATHROOM CHANGES– No this doesn’t mean that you are going to remodel your bathroom. Even though, it may seem you are trying to transform your toilet :). This could go 1 of 2 ways: either in the form of constipation or the form of diarrhea. Which one all depends on how your body responds to the extra Ketones

    .

  5. BAD BREATH– This is one sign that is not very pleasant. Constantly wondering what animal died in your mouth. Don’t worry though because this is temporary and will go away.

  6. INCREASED KETONES– This is the easiest sign to test for and know for sure if you are producing ketones. You can purchase Ketone strips

    at a very affordable price.

Now that you know how to tell if you are in ketosis, you may be wondering if there is anything to help keep you there. I know for me, planning my meals ahead of time so that I know exactly what I am eating each day has been a huge help. Having several cookbooks

on hand wouldn’t hurt anything either 🙂

Also, keeping “fat bombs” on hand has been a lifesaver. Especially in the beginning, keeping up with my daily macros was a booger. I seemed to always fall short on my needed amount of fat. And in case you don’t already know, falling short on your fat levels can slow down your process of ketosis. Since, I love y’all I am going to share my favorite fat bomb recipes with you 🙂

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CUPS
INGREDIENTS:

1/2 C Coconut Oil

1/2 C Natural Peanut Butter

2-3 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder

2-4 TBS Stevia

Splash of vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large skillet over low heat melt coconut oil and peanut butter
  2. Stir in cocoa power
  3. Stir in Stevia
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract
  5. Pour into silicone molds and refrigerate until set

SUGAR FREE JELLO POPS
INGREDIENTS:

1/2 C boiling water

1 C Heavy Whpping Cream

1 Pkg Sugar Free Gelatin

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for 4 hours.

VANILLA CHEESECAKE BOMB
Ingredients:

8 oz. cream cheese

2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 cup Stevia

1 cup heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Put the cream cheese, vanilla and sweetener into bowl and mix on low speed.
  2. Add half of the heavy cream and mix for another 2 minutes. Let the bowl sit for 3-5 minutes as sweetener in its granulated form requires a little extra time to dissolve.
  3. Add the other half of the heavy cream and mix on medium speed for 3 minutes until the mixture is thick with firm peaks.
  4. Gently spoon the mixture into a piping bag and pipe into mini cupcake liners. Set in the fridge for at least 1 hour before enjoying.

LEMON OOLA-LA-LA BOMBS

INGREDIENTS

4 Tablespoons butter

4 Tablespoons Virgin Coconut Oil

2 oz cream cheese

4 Tablespoons heavy cream

1 lemon, squeezed

1 teaspoon lemon extract

Sweetener to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Heat the cream cheese in short bursts. Add butter and coconut oil.

2. Whisk until blended. Add cream.

3. Whisk to incorporate. Squeeze in lemon and add extract if using.

4. Sweeten to taste.

5. Carefully pour into an ice cube tray or silicone mold

6. Freeze overnight.

Chicken Bacon Garlic Cali’flour Pizza

Is there any better combination than Chicken, Bacon, and Garlic? When that craving for pizza hits make this your go to super easy, super simple recipe!!

INGREDIENTS

1 Cali’flour Foods Original Italian Pizza Crust

Ranch or Alfredo Sauce (for your base)

1/4 Cup Mozzarella Cheese (amount varies as you like)

Pre-Cooked Chicken Chopped into small pieces

Pre-Cooked Bacon Crumbled

Diced Tomatoes

Chopped Green Onions

Diced Garlic

DIrections

Pre-Cook your Cali’flour Crust as directed on package, using a vented pan or pizza screen for a crispier crust. Once Crust is completely cooked, spread your Alfredo sauce or ranch in a thin layer and sprinkle cheese on top.

Add remaining ingredients to your liking (not too heavy). Warm back up in oven until cheese is melted, approximately 3 minutes.

One Minute Keto Microwave Cheesecake

When that nagging sweet tooth hits these little pieces of heaven will curb it quickly.

They also make a great go to dessert when you are invited to a cookout or family gathering and feel obligated to bring something but want to stay Keto.

1. Combine all ingredients in a 1.5 cup microwave-safe bowl, and whisk until smooth.

2. Place in microwave and cook on high for 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Benefits of living the Keto life.

I’m sure by now you are wondering why you should transform your whole way of thinking and your whole way of eating…….Yes, I said your way of thinking. All of our lives we have been told to steer clear of high fat foods and have been conditioned to eat carb filled foods instead. Reprogramming my mind is beyond a doubt the biggest obstacle I had to overcome when starting this WOE. We should not be afraid of healthy fats, we should embrace them.

I bet you are currently asking yourself what are the benefits of eating and living Keto…..well I am going to tell you. You can thank me later lol.

Benefits of Keto

1. Aids In Weight Loss

It takes more work to turn fat into energy than it takes to turn carbs into energy. Because of this, a keto diet can help speed up weight loss. And since the diet is high in protein, it doesn’t leave you hungry like other diets do. However, due to the many other benefits of Keto weight loss should be thought of as a bonus not a goal.

2. Reduces Acne

There are a number of different causes of acne, and one may be related to diet and blood sugar. Eating a diet high in processed and refined carbs can alter gut bacteria and cause more dramatic blood sugar fluctuations, both of which can have an influence on skin health. Therefore, by decreasing carb intake, it’s not surprising that a Keto diet could reduce some cases of acne.

3. Help Reduce Risk Of Cancer

The ketogenic diet has recently been investigated a great deal for how it may help prevent or even treat certain cancers. One study found that the Keto diet may be a suitable complementary treatment to chemotherapy and radiation in people with cancer. This is due to the fact that it would cause more oxidative stress in cancer cells than in normal cells.   • improved fasting insulin

Needing less sleep, having a clearer mind and being in a better mood are all benefits of Keto. Lower insulin levels means tiredness disappears and energy increases. These changes will happen quickly. Usually within the first week of being in ketosis.

Chicken Cauliflower Fried Rice

I have always adored fried rice and was very saddened when learning that I could no longer have it…or at least I thought I couldn’t. Cauliflower rice is extremely versatile and can be made into many “mock” foods. Cauliflower Fried Rice is one of my favorites as well as my family. Adding chicken for the protein makes it even more special.

Being a busy mom, wife, and having a full time job has taught me that shortcuts can be your best friend. If available in your area I suggest buying the cauliflower already riced. It can be found in the frozen section at your local supermarket. If it’s not available then using a Food Processor to rice it works well too.

Ingredients

4 C Riced Cauliflower

2 TBS Toasted Sesame Oil

1 lb boneless chicken breast, chopped into 1/2″ dices

3 carrots, diced

1 onion diced

2 garlic cloves

1 C frozen peas

1/4 C San-J Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce

1/4 C sliced green onions (garnish)

Sesame Seeds (garnish)

Directions:

1. Heat wok on medium high heat

2. Add 1 TBS of sesame oil. Add chicken

3. Saute chicken for 4-5 minutes

4. Push chicken over to one side of pan, add 1 TBS of sesame oil on the other side along with carrots, onion, garlic, and peas.

5. Saute vegetables for 4-5 minutes

6. Add cauliflower rice along with tamari sauce

7. Toss everything together and cook for 2-3 minutes

8. Garnish with green onions and Sesame Seeds.

The Low Down On Ketogenic

A keto diet is well known for being a low carb diet and the body will produce ketones in the liver to be used as energy. It’s referred to as many different names – ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat, LCHF…etc.

When you eat foods that are high in carbs, your body will produce glucose and insulin. Since the glucose is being used as the primary energy source, your fats are not needed and are therefore stored. By lowering the intake of carbs, the body goes into a state known as ketosis.
During this state, we produce ketones, which are produced from the breakdown of fats in the liver. This is normal process for our body to adapt to using fat for energy instead of carbs, also known as being “fat adapted”.

Once the body is “fat adapted” it will start burning ketones as the primary energy source. Thus forcing our bodies to burn fat, as well as improve physical and mental well being.

There are many benefits to this WOE other than weight loss but I will save that for another day.

Cookie Dough Fat Bomb

This was one of the first recipes that I fixed after starting this WOE. Not only does it put the sweet tooth at bay but my whole family adores these. They are super simple and quick to make.

The only obstacle I found was finding a store that offered Lilly’s baking chips. However, I found them at a very reasonable price at 2 different locations:

Lily’s Sweets Dark Chocolate Premium Baking Chips
Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips- 1×9 OZ

Cookie Dough Fat bomb

Recipe:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 stick salted butter (I prefer Land O’ Lakes)

1/2 C creamy natural peanut butter (no sugar added)

1/3 C Swerve Sweetener

1 tsp vanilla extract

4 oz Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips

Directions:

Cream everything together in a mixer.

Spray a cookie scoop or small spoon with coconut oil cooking spray.

Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes before scooping onto parchment paper

Freeze again for 30 minutes. Store in refrigerator in plastic baggies.
